Intro to Maya - Instructor: Chia Kai
Introduction and messing around with scenes to familiarise ourselves with Maya's functions

Lighting/ Building Modeling Assignment

Final Assignment: Diorama scene construction
Concept and blocking out + Planning

UV Mapping and stages
Spent more time than i was hoping for just ouright focusing on the technical part as i enjoyed that process albeit a bit overstretching.
Ran out of time and submitted the scene without much painting in.

Final Paint in - Late submission

Perspective/ Environment- Instructor: Chia Kai

Assignment 1 - Post Apocalyptic Diner
Decided to go beyond the bedroom and focus on set dressing as a side goal for the pieces while applying what was taught from the lessons.
As part of the set dressing, i created a character via mindmapping and determined what was needed for the background.
A mood and reference board was then created to aid in the construction of the piece.

Did a coloring/ Semi-rendered pass as i had time to spare.

Final Assignment : Manapunk setting
For this we have 2 scenes to build:
Exterior and Interior alongside actual worldbuilding and set dressing.
Played around a lot when it came to using Curved perspective, and ended up doing a bit of both for the Exterior environment

Had trouble figuring out the consctruction of the scene and trying to find a good balance between adding elements and avoiding blocking out too much of the scene in order to show the scene transitioning from the vanishing point to the front.

Final piece with rough lighting pass

Thumbnails for the Interior
Wanted to emphasize more of the machinery and technical/punk part of the
theme, so i went for an indoor hangar bay.
Old Linework for the interior.
Realised that the set dressing didnt necessary fit the theme right, so i had to revaluate my references and where i drew these from. Decided to go with a more steampunk and even more so analog look.
As for the electronics i had looked a bit towards the artificer designs from Dungeons and Dragons where runes are carved into the devices to explain the mechanics a bit more.

Final piece with rough lighting pass

First assignment that stretched over 3 weeks.
Dubbed the "Lucky Draw" assignment, everyone in the class is required to draw straws at random and while at it, pick a character that they'd want someone else to paint/render alongside the receiving student's choice of actor, and applying said actors' face on the character as if it was a live-action casting.
My classmate had picked Eren Jager from Attack from titan while i picked Keanu Reeves.
Digital Rendering Techniques and Character Art
Instructor: Stanley "Artgerm" Lau

First pass Second Pass Final Render
Personally, not a fan of this one.
Anatomy still has a long way to go, but the improvement is noticable enough.

Second and final major assignment.
Dubbed the "Creature-bend", the students are required to choose a non-human character and essentially "humanise" that character in the form of a digital painting.
I went with Flick from Animal Crossing
Thumbnail and reference board
Initially decided to go with a top-down view.
but considering the complexities i reverted to a more simplistic, front facing composition and emphasized more practice on form and anatomy.

Greyscale and lighting, followed by color and fixes to the face as always.
